Reflecting on 2018

As 2018 draws to a close, it’s time for us to look back and reflect on the highlights of the past year…

Aside from surviving the ‘Beast from the East’ and the hottest summer ever, a big achievement for us was reaching 20 years of upholding the BSI Kitemark for our Dormont gas hoses, and to celebrate we have been donating 10p for every gas hose sold in 2018 to the British heart Foundation. Thank you to everyone who has purchased Dormont this year, and in doing so, helped us to support this very worthy cause.

As part of our commitment to safeguarding standards and for making continuous improvements, this year we successfully transitioned from quality management system ISO 9001:2008 to the latest version, ISO 9001:2015. We are always looking to make improvements to our processes in order to effectively deliver what our customers need and value.

This year also saw the launch of BioCeptor, our first combined technology approach to grease management. Combining two proven technologies, BioCeptor has been optimally designed to maximise the retention and management of Fats, Oils and Grease (FOG) in the commercial kitchen, and was recently recognised by Foodservice Equipment Journal (FEJ) as one of their products of the year for value & usability

Other accolades achieved this year include winning the ‘Light Equipment, Accessories and Spares’ award, awarded to us at the CEDA Supplier Awards, and being shortlisted for the FCSI (UK & Ireland) Sustainable Catering Equipment award, after our New BaSix was recognized for its water-saving excellence.

It really has been a great year, with lots of fun had along the way. As always, we’ve enjoyed running our customer competitions, i.e. the Chocolate Egg Hunt Eggtravaganza and Harvest Hamper Giveaway, and this year we were momentarily gripped in the belief that maybe, just maybe, England could bring it home during our football promotion (we still dream). The frolics are set to continue throughout 2019, and are already underway with the Mechline Christmas Wrap competition (see our next news story for details!).

It has certainly been an action-packed year, and that’s without even mentioning our totally revamped resource centre, various new case studies, the day we flipped our ‘M’ on its head for International Women’s Day and our ever-expanding team – we’ve now reached the very impressive 50 employee millstone!

We look forward to seeing what the year ahead holds and hope that 2019 will be a prosperous year for you all!
