One Year On – Ebola Crisis Appeal

This time last year we chose not to send Christmas cards, but to make a donation to support the Ebola Crisis Appeal.

We have received an update from the Disaster Emergency Committee which outlines just what those funds have helped to achieve. There have been some incredibly positive changes which Mechline is pleased we were able to provide a little bit of support towards.

“Thanks to Mechline Developments Ltd’s support for Ebola over a year ago, we have made great progress with regards to supporting those affected by last year’s serious outbreak. Your generous contribution to the Ebola Crisis Appeal is continuing to help those living in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.

“It has been heartening to see that the incredible efforts carried out to stifle the savage nature of the disease are paying off. Sierra Leone was – after 42 days without any new cases of the virus – declared officially Ebola free on 7th November 2015 and remains so today.

“We have sadly seen occasional small outbreaks in Liberia and Guinea continue. Thankfully DEC members’ work has provided an effective framework to ensure that these cases are dealt with in a swift and effective manner that prevents further mass contagion. With no current Ebola cases in either country the countdown to the whole region being completely virus free is underway.

“Thank you for providing the means to help us achieve so much over the last year.

“Wishing all at Mechline a very pleasant festive break when it comes.” Eamon Sutherland, Fundraising Team, Disasters Emergency Committee
