The importance of gas safety is critical in the foodservice sector, and that’s why two of the industry’s biggest names, Mechline and First Choice Group have once again joined forces to raise awareness ahead of Gas Safety Week 2021 (13th – 19th September).
In its 11th year, Gas Safety Week brings together organisations from across the UK, to highlight the importance of properly maintained gas appliances. Hosted by Gas Safe Register, the registration body appointed by the Health and Safety Executive to manage the register of qualified gas engineers in the UK, Isle of Man and Guernsey, Gas Safety Week addresses a whole range of safety measures and provides advice on the importance of always using a register engineer, who is legally qualified.
Mechline, a leading manufacturer in the production and supply of innovative products for the foodservices and environmental industry, is a longstanding partner of First Choice Group, itself the UK’s largest stockist of genuine OEM spare parts, accessories and consumables. With both brands having a close affiliation to Gas Safe Register, particularly through the programmes run by First Choice Training, and through Mechline’s high-quality gas products, ongoing safety is of key importance to both brands.
On Gas Safety Week, Head of Training Division at First Choice, Martin Dagnall comments:
“First Choice Group and First Choice Training place safety, and in particular, gas safety as one of our highest priorities. From protecting staff working in kitchens, to customers dining out and industry suppliers, it is essential that legally qualified and registered engineers are always used. Certified by LCL Awards, First Choice Training regularly runs courses and undertakes assessments as part of the national Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS), and also regularly hosts the Managed Learning Programme for New Gas Engineers programme.
We are delighted to be joining forces with the team from Mechline, a First Choice manufacturer partner, to support and raise awareness of Gas Safety Week 2021. Our aim is to help operators to understand the dangers of poorly maintained gas appliances, which can cause leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning, when not correctly installed.”
Nick Falco, Product & Technical Director at Mechline reinforces the safety message, saying:
“Safe gas installation work is something that should never be overlooked in the foodservice sector and that’s why we’ve joined forces with First Choice Group, to once again remind businesses of their responsibility keep staff and customers safe by using correctly installed and maintained gas appliances.
Gas Safety Week is designed to educate and inform operators of the importance of using legally qualified engineers, like those trained by First Choice Group, and ensure the parts and accessories being installed are compliant and fit-for-use. At Mechline, we offer a range of gas-safe products which have been designed and tested for long-term performance and to withstand the demands of the commercial kitchen environment. From Dormont gas hoses, widely regarded as the safest and strongest on the market, to Caterconnex regulators and Caterguard safety devices, we offer a comprehensive range.”
As an approved supplier for Mechline in the UK, First Choice is delighted to stock a full range of gas safe parts including hoses and safety devices, many of which are available on same day dispatch, next day delivery as standard*.
