Getting In Gear To Raise Funds For Our Soldiers

Mechline is pleased to have once again supported ABF – The Soldiers’ Charity. In it’s third year, the ABF cycle ride took cyclists on a challenging adventure across the beautiful Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire countryside.

The cyclists travelled the equivalent of all the way around the world, covering 26,000 miles! A fantastic total of £9,800 has been raised from the day.

The ride provided a choice of three circular routes of 24, 35 and 64 miles all on the road. The three routes started and finished at the Five Bells in Stanbridge, passing through lovely locations including Puttenham and Long Marston.

Well done to all the riders and thank you to the Mechline team who volunteered to help with marshalling and motivation.

Peter Sage-Passant, Chairman at Mechline; “Cycling is a passion of mine, I cycle into work most days. We have been supporting the sponsored ride since it started three years ago, it is a great chance to have fun, keep fit and raise money for charity. I was on hand on the day alongside other members of Mechline and ABF to help organise the event and encourage cyclists to reach the end for a well-deserved post-ride refreshment.”

ABF provides lifetime support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. Soldiers risk so much for us, but for them, it’s just doing their job. In return ABF provides financial assistance when they are in real need.
