Throughout 2018 Mechline supported the British Heart Foundation as part of their year-long ‘From Mechline with Love’ campaign and to celebrate 20 years of safeguarding the BSI Kitemark for their Dormont gas hoses. As the year, and their campaign, have now drawn to a close Mechline would like to thank all customers who have purchased Dormont and, in doing so, have helped to support a very worthy cause.
Mechline’s Dormont gas hoses are the only commercial gas hose to carry the BSI kitemark, the most recognised symbol of continuous quality and safety. This is important as it signifies the presence of ongoing quality testing, rather than just one sample complying on one original test date (as it the case with other gas hoses on the marketplace, which only comply with the BS669 Part 2:1997). In upholding the Kitemark Mechline maintains a rigorous audit testing process at their factory, testing every hose and quick disconnect to the high specification set out by BSI – and it is this level of care and love that spurred Mechline to announce their support of the British Heart Foundation on the 14th February, Valentine’s Day!
Since February 2018 Mechline have been donating 10p for every gas hose sold to the British Heart Foundation, who raise money to research cures and treatments for heart and circulatory diseases – diseases which cause a quarter of all deaths in the UK! Its life-saving research has provided doctors with machines that can restart hearts, the capacity to fix arteries in tiny babies and the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with. One recipient of such lifesaving research was Andrew Peers, who at only a few days old stopped breathing in his grandmother’s arms. Thankfully, Andrew survived and now at 10 years old is a reminder of the huge impact donations can have. Similarly unknown – at least to me – was that a staggering 1 in 4 people are killed by heart and circulatory diseases in the UK! As well as donating 10p for every gas hose sold, Mechline put aside the money that would normally go on Christmas cards in order to present a cheque for over £5,000 to the British Heart Foundation.
