Mechline Developments has launched a comprehensive four step FOGS management service – to help operators prevent the build-up of fats, oils, grease and starches in their drains and sewers and to ensure that they are compliant with all relevant UK legislation.
Mechline’s four step FOGS management service involves:
- assessing the FOGS management needs of a venue;
- selecting the correct equipment;
- installation, commissioning and training, followed by
- ongoing service and support.
For step one Mechline’s experienced team provide a comprehensive assessment of all factors contributing to FOGS management at a venue, including an analysis of working drawings to highlight FOGS producing hotspots. At step two, following the completion of the venue audit, Mechline will provide a detailed equipment specification report outlining the recommended equipment solution for the venue to meet all current legislation. This can include one or a combination of Mechline’s market leading products including the Food Waste Strainer which reduces the build-up of food waste sediment in the drainage system; and the BioCeptor system which combines GreasePak’s proven biological treatment solution, with the FOG Intercept and Treatment unit (F.I.T) to retain and break down FOGS – preventing it from entering drainage systems.
The third step in Mechline’s FOGS management service includes the commissioning of the BioCeptor system and detailed staff training to ensure the effective operation of the equipment. Plus operators benefit from a 10-year extended warranty on completion of the commissioning. Step four incorporates a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) service which ensures the installed Bioceptor FOGS management system is serviced and cleaned at agreed intervals. A GreasePak Management Service is also available to ensure that all GreasePak units are fully operational and dosing at the correct levels and frequency.
Commenting on the new FOGS management service, Kristian Roberts, Marketing Manager at Mechline said:
“It’s a shocking statistic that 70% of commercial kitchens do not have any kind of FOGS management in place. Blocked drains effect the hygiene and performance of a kitchen and operators can face prosecution for contravening regulations – so it’s never been more important to have an effective FOGS management solution in place.
“We have partnered with grease trap and waste water specialist Aqua Mundus which enables us to offer customers a comprehensive FOGS management solution from full venue audits, equipment installation, commissioning and training, through to maintenance and service support to keep commercial kitchens free of FOGS and on the right side of the law.”
Foodservice operators across the UK are already benefiting from Mechline’s FOGS management solution including James Wilson, Managing Director of Kauai UK – the healthy fast food casual restaurant chain, who commented:
“We have two BioCeptors from Mechline in Kauai, one in the prep and delivery kitchen and one in the display kitchen—and we have just emptied the waste for the first time, after four months! We are always looking to improve our sustainability and lower our carbon footprint and BioCeptor definitely helps us to do this by minimising our waste collections.
“We received great support from Mechline. They gave good advice around key areas of FOG management and they supplied us with lots of information as we requested it. Mechline products are certainly going into the next Kauai store!”
