QuickLink S

Do I need to buy new sinks?
No.

Can I fit a QuickLink S kit to my existing sinks?

Yes. QuickLink is designed to be fitted on site by an installer. It can be fitted to existing or new sinks and the sinks do not need to be sent away from site for modification.

If I buy new sinks, can I fit QuickLink S to them?

Yes. QuickLink is designed to be fitted on site by an installer. It can be fitted to new sinks as well as existing. Sinks do not need to be specially modified in any way.

Will I need two QuickLinks for a double/ triple bowl sink?

No. You will only need one kit. The standard QuickLink S is designed to fit single / double or even triple bowl sinks.

Do I need to buy new taps if I have a QuickLink fitted?

No. The QuickLink S is designed to work with any standard pillar / mixer taps, old or new.

Does the kit include a connector for the sink drain(s)?

Yes. The QuickLink S kit comes complete with a drain connector for single / double / triple bowl sinks.

How do I know the QuickLink kit will fit my sinks?

The QuickLink is designed to fit most standard sinks and can be adapted to fit almost all sinks. There are some site checks that you should do. If your sink is different in any way, contact Mechline.

Does the standard QuickLink S kit include wheels?

No. We do not include wheels because sometimes they are already fitted to existing sinks, but we can supply them straight from stock if required.

Which other appliances in my kitchen can I mobilise with QuickLink systems?

QuickLink D is for mobilising the tabling around a dishwasher. QuickLink C is for mobilising 6/10-grid combination ovens and steamers.

Will I have to train my staff to use QuickLink?

No. QuickLink is very easy to use. There is a simple-to-follow operation sticker on the front of the kit as well.

Could I buy 2 QuickLink S kits but only one sink and have 2 locations where I could plug my sink into?

Yes. With several QuickLink S units installed, you can choose to move your sink from location to location where QuickLink units are fitted. Therefore, you do not not need to buy several sinks in areas that see little activity. This is especially useful in training or health care facilities that have labs that aren't always in use. Operators can easily roll the sink to the room when it's time to make use of a sink. This can save on capital expenses for equipment.

Do I have to unhook any flexible hoses?

No. QuickLink disconnect the services in a single action, without the need for flexible hoses.

Do I have to shut the water off to use the unit?

No. Self-sealing water valves seal the water the moment the handles are lifted.

The wallplate will not connect onto sink bracket because tap holes are too far in from the back of the sink.

Contact Mechline for a special long-reach sink bracket. An engineer can fit this part on site.

The adjustable feet on the sink bracket do not reach the sink bowl.

There are foot extenders in with the QuickLink kit.

My sink has got ¾" taps and the QuickLink hoses do not fit.

Contact Mechline for a set of adapters. This part can be fitted on site. Note: it may be necessary to enlarge the tap holes on the sink bracket to allow the ¾" taps to pass through.

I cannot fit the sink bracket to the sink because the sink frame is in the way.

It may be necessary to cut away the sink frame at this point. Make sure doing this does not weaken the sink.

When I try to connect the sink, sometimes it will not go in even though it is lined up properly side-to-side.

Check that the 'bow tie' restrainers are in place around the hoses on the sink bracket. These prevent the hoses from tipping the quick-disconnect couplings back too far. The bracket with the couplings on should be almost flat when the sink is disconnected.

Also:

•  Check that nothing is snagging the coupling bracket preventing the springs from lifting the couplings up far enough. Push / pull up and down a couple of times to free the springs.
•  Check that the adjustable feet on the sink bracket are adjusted back so that they reach the sink bowl and hold the bracket straight. There are adjustable feet extenders in the QuickLink box in case they are needed.
•  Check that the buffers from the sink legs to the wall are set at the correct length and are not stopping the sink from connecting.
•  If the sink is fitted with height adjustable castors, check that they have not come loose. If they have, re-align / tighten up and lock in place. If you adjust the castors to suit the height of the wallplate, make sure that the drain kit still lines up as well.
•  Check that there is nothing preventing the sink from connecting (pipes in the way / cables on the floor, etc.)
•  Check that you have followed the installation instructions properly and have not removed the installation pins from the sink bracket too soon. Installation pins must be in place when the wallplate is fixed to the sink and wheeled into position to mark the fixing holes. The stainless steel slotted 'foot' that sticks out from the wallplate should line up with the plastic guide sandwiched above and between the quick-disconnect couplings on the sink bracket. If the wallpate needs re-fixing at the correct height, compress the springs on the sink bracket, replace the installation pins and re-install as per the installation instructions.

The QuickLink drain spigot does not reach the drain box on the wall.

Contact Mechline for a longer drain spigot. This part can be fitted on site. Or extend the spigot with a straight connector and tube. (The tapered/shrouded end must fit into the waste box.)

I cannot fit the drain box to the wall behind the sink drain boss.

Contact Mechline for a remote drain kit. This part can be fitted on site.

There is no 2" plug provided for the back of the drain tee.

This is left open in case additional drain(s) are to be connected. Plug off with a standard rodding access fitting.

The sink unit has a lever waste fitted.

Contact Mechline for a remote waste kit. An engineer can fit this part on site.

A small amount of water drips on the floor from the wallplate when I first disconnect my QuickLink.

The kit is designed so that a small amount of water will drip when the QuickLink is disconnected. This is quite normal and should stop after a couple of seconds. It is just the residual water from the quick-disconnect couplings.

Water continues to leak from one of the water couplings on the wallplate when the sink is disconnected.

There may be debris caught in the water coupling. Turn the water off, depress the nipple in the centre of the coupling (do not use a sharp object which could damage coupling) and turn the water back on slowly. Release the nipple. This should have flushed any debris clear. If the leak persists, a replacement coupling may be required.

After installation the sink will not engage.

The buffer may be set too long and stopping the sink going back to the wall. Also check there is nothing on the wall or floor preventing the unit pushing back to the wall.

QuickLink D

Is the QuickLink D kit the same as the QuickLink S kit for sinks?

No. The QuickLink D has been designed specifically for dishwash tabling.

Do I need to send my dishwasher & tabling away to be modified?

No. The installer can usually fit the QuickLink D kit on site without the need for any modifications.

Do I need to put the dishwasher on wheels?

No. The QuickLink D mobilises the tabling on either side of the dishwasher. The dishwasher remains static and you can clean fully round it with the tabling removed. The QuickLink D kit includes drip trays that fit to your dishwasher and allow the tabling to be easily pulled away.

Do I need to buy new dishwash tabling?

No, probably not, but it will need to be checked with your installer.

Can I fit a QuickLink kit to my existing dishwash tabling?

Yes, usually. QuickLink is designed to be fitted on site by an installer. It can be fitted to existing or new tabling and the tabling usually does not need to be sent away from site for modification. Occasionally, dishwash tabling is made in such a way that it is not suitable for mobilising. The tabling will need castors fitted.

If I buy new dishwash tabling, can I fit a QuickLink kit to it?

Yes. QuickLink is designed to be fitted on site by an installer. It can be fitted to new dishwash tabling as well as existing. Tabling does not need to be specially modified in any way, but should be checked against the data sheet.

Will I need two QuickLinks if I have more than one bowl in my dishwasher tabling?

No. You will only need one kit. The standard QuickLink D is designed to fit single / double or even triple bowl sinks as long as the bowls are on the same piece of tabling. If you want to mobilise tabling on both sides of the dishwasher, and both pieces of tabling have bowls fitted, you will need 2 QuickLink D kits.

Do I need to buy new taps or pre-rinses if I have a QuickLink D fitted?

No. The QuickLink D is designed to work with any standard pillar / mixer taps, old or new.

Does the kit include a connector for the tabling drain(s)?

Yes. The QuickLink D kit comes complete with a drain connector for single / double / triple bowl sinks.

Does the standard QuickLink D kit include wheels?

No. We do not include wheels because we don't know how many are needed for your tabling, but we can supply them straight from stock, if required.

Which other appliances in my kitchen can I mobilise with QuickLink systems?

QuickLink S is for mobilising sink units. QuickLink C is for mobilising 6/10-grid combination ovens and steamers.

Will I have to train my staff to use QuickLink?

No. QuickLink is very easy to use. There is a simple-to-follow operation sticker on the front of the kit as well.

Where should I put my detergent drums?

We recommend that detergent drums are stored on the floor under the tabling. Detergent dispensers should be fitted on the wall and NOT the splashback.

Do I have to unhook any flexible hoses?

No, QuickLink disconnect the services in a single action, without the need for flexible hoses.

Do I have to shut the water off to use the unit?

No. Self-sealing water valves seal the water the moment the handles are lifted.

The splashback on the back of the tabling is loose and bends forward when I try and connect my QuickLink.

The QuickLink does not need to be pushed in hard to connect. Try pushing the tabling gently into position while holding the splashback upright. If the splashback needs stiffening up, contact your tabling fabricator.

I have just installed my QuickLink S (or QuickLink D) and it won't connect.

Some points to consider:

•  Make sure the wallplate handles are raised before trying to dock the sink bracket with the wallplate.

•  Make sure the buffers fitted to the sink / dishwasher tabling are set to the correct length. If they are too long they may stop the unit from connecting.

•  Make sure there is nothing lying on the floor that is blocking or interfering with the tabling wheels.

•  Make sure the wheels are free of debris.

•  Make sure that the distance from the centre line of the sink taps to the rear of the sink is within the maximum limit. If not, a replacement adapter plate may be required.

•  Make sure the drain spigot is aligning with the wall box - may require adjustment.

•  Make sure that the installation has been carried out in accordance with the Installation Instructions, and that the installation clip has been removed at the correct point. If not, it is possible that the wallplate has been fixed on the wall at the wrong height. If this has happened, and the drain kit hasn't been installed, it may be possible to adjust the tabling castor legs to get the sink bracket to line up with the wallplate. If the drain kit has already been installed, it may be necessary to repeat the installation procedure properly and re-install the wallplate at the correct height.

I have just installed my QuickLink S or D and the sink is at an angle.

Use the adjustable castors to level the sink.

The plastic foot on the sink bracket does not reach the sink bowl, even though I have pushed the slide fitting back as far as it will go.

There is an extender foot in with the QuickLink kit. Consider using this part.

No water is passing through the QuickLink.

Points to consider:

•  Check that the site water supplies are turned on.

•  Check that the water hoses feeding the QuickLink have not become kinked.

•  Disconnect the QuickLink and depress the female coupling plungers on the sink bracket. If one or both of the couplings have failed, a replacement sink bracket may be required.

Water leaks from the wallplate couplings when the QuickLink is disconnected.

Debris may have travelled up the water supply pipes and become lodged in one or both of the couplings. Turn the water supplies to the QuickLink off, and depress the plungers in the middle of the male couplings on the wallplate. With the nipples depressed, turn the water supplies on momentarily to try to flush the blockage clear. If this does not work, a replacement wallplate may be required.

My sink moves about when the QuickLink is connected.

Check that the wall buffers are adjusted correctly.

Can Mechline supply Quicklink drain kits with chrome fittings?

Yes. Instead of M54, ask for M54C to indicate your preference for chrome finishing.

My oven does not fit on the mobile QuickLink stand supplied.

Check the details to make sure it is the right stand for your oven model. QuickLink C stands are not universal and are made to suit the oven specified.

When I try to connect the stand to the wall box, sometimes it will not go in even though it is lined up properly side-to-side.

Check that the buffers from the Stand to the wall are set at the correct length and are not stopping the stand from connecting.

Also:

•  Check the height of the adjustable castors. Check that they have not come loose. If they have, re-align / tighten up and lock in place. If you adjust the castors, re-check the connect / disconnect operation of the stand.

•  Check that there is nothing preventing the stand from connecting (pipes in the way / cables on the floor, etc.)

A small amount of water drips on the floor from the wall box when I first disconnect my QuickLink C stand.

The kit is designed so that a small amount of water will drip when the QuickLink is disconnected. This is quite normal and should stop after a couple of seconds. It is just the residual water from the quick-disconnect coupling.

Water continues to leak from one of the water couplings on the wall box when the sink is disconnected.

MK Series Connectors

No water is passing through my MK connector.

A few points to consider:

•  Check that site supplies are turned on.

•  Check that the wire mesh filters in the top of the water inlet fittings are not blocked.

•  Check that the water hoses inside the MK wall box are not kinked. Anti-kink rings are fitted, but these can become dislodged if work is carried out inside the box.

•  Check that the kit is engaged properly, and that the foot pedal is in the fully 'up' position. If not (if the pedal is partially 'down') the kit is not properly engaged.

I can't get the sink / dishwasher to engage with the wall box.

A few points to consider:

•  Check that the operator is following the correct operation procedure. Sometimes, people try to connect the sink/tabling with their foot still resting on the foot pedal.

•  Check that the operator is opening the taps when re-connecting the sink / tabling.

•  Check that the connector on the tabling is lined up properly with the wall box. It may be necessary to adjust the height adjustable castors fitted to the tabling. The MK connector will not work properly unless it is lined up properly.

•  Check that the site water supply pressure is not too high (over 2 bar - 30 psi) if it is, water pressure reducing valves may be required on the incoming supplies.

•  The couplings may need lubricating / the unit may need servicing. Refer to policy details in this manual.

Can I get spare parts for my MK Connector?

Yes. However, the series is discontinued and tooling for spare parts is rare or non-existent. We recommend that QuickLink units be considered to upgrade the quick-disconnect functionality of your equipment.
